Dairy-Free

I just started a Dairy-Free diet. I'm going on day 5. OK so I probably should have gone dairy-free along time ago. I am lactose intolerant. I have always either taken a pill or had lactose free milk and cheese. I actually cheated quiet a bit but the only one it affected was me. Now it affects my daughter.

Addison was a very happy baby the first month. Wide eyed and smiles all the time. At about 4 weeks she started this angry cry and would scrunch herself into a ball. It seemed like she was in pain. She has always spit up a little but it got much worse and so did her BM. So I did lots of research and decided to try cutting out dairy. So far it seems to be helping I think. I need to give it more time to be sure. Oh how I miss chocolate, cheese, and many other things. I just hope she doesn't have a problem with soy. I had too much soy one day and it made me sick and her too. Other then that it is going well. Some of my favorite things I have found are Earth's Balance and So Delicious Ice Cream Sandwich. Also we made an amazing creamy lemon parsley sauce with rice milk.

Hopefully this goes well and makes a difference for Addi.

Easter

What a great weekend. My husband and I went to his parents for Easter. Addison had a bunch of firsts. Her first big holiday, first bonfire, first egg hunt. It was great to see everyone and was a nice last get away before I go back to work.

Mommy and Me Monday - Happy Anniversary

Shane and I have been married for 2 years, yesterday. I told him the only thing I wanted was to have a nice dinner where I could dress up and wear heels.

It was our first time leaving Addison. My mom watched her for us. We went to Johnny's Italian Steakhouse. It was wonderful. We mostly talked about Addi and I couldn't wait to get home but it was so nice to get out and have time for us.

We Did It!

I'm so excited! Tonight was the first time I breastfed without the nipple shield. Woohoo! It has been a very hard month when it comes to breastfeeding. At the beginning Addison lost weight because she wouldn't eat. I was pumping and feeding her. So my doctor suggested the shield. She did tell me many people were against it because it's hard to ween them off it. But the moment she used it I was relieved. It was just so hard and I felt like a failure. The shield helped me feel a little less like a failure. I was told to keep doing skin on skin and trying without the shield. So I would try every day and she would just scream and scream. On Sunday we were at Motherhood and I went to feed her and realized I forgot the shield. I tried without it but it just ended with both of us in tears. Luckily they sold the shield there. This morning I tried and it was a no go. I almost wasn't going to try. It took some work but we did it! I know it doesn't mean from now on will be easy breezy but it felt so good and it's a start. I'm so proud of my baby girl!

Mommy and Me Monday - Sunny Weekend

What a beautiful weekend it was. On Saturday Addison and I went to lunch with Grandma at The Market Street Diner. I had a fantastic BLT and some of my mom's sweet potato fries, which were amazing. They also have fabulous pie. I had the Banana Butterscotch and my mom had Peanut Butter Silk. My sister had called that morning to tell me about the resale that goes on twice a year. So then we went to Half-Pint Resale. (http://halfpintresale.com) I got so many great things for Addison for such an amazing deal. What a great Saturday!

Mommy and Me Monday - Our First Pictures

I love taking photos and always have my camera with me. So when my husband asked if I wanted pictures taken during delivery he was shocked to hear me say "no way!" Labor was hard and the last thing I was thinking about was getting pictures. When she was finally out and they put her on my chest, she looked right into my eyes and it was LOVE at first sight! I knew I would never forget that moment but I instantly wanted a picture of her. So I could someday show her a picture of the best moment in my life. So my husband ran and got the camera and now we have a photo of Addison only minutes old. Our first mommy and daughter picture!

We had photos taken of Addison in the hospital. I was so excited the CD of photos came in the mail today. Addison was just a day old. The photos are so cute! Here are a few of our family pictures we got taken.

Learning to be a Mom

What a day!

Addison has been wearing disposable diapers because her belly button was infected. So now that it's finally healed we can switch to our cloth diapers. I tried the tiny tush diapers on her and they were way too big. We have two of the gdiapers and luckily those fit her. She had a blowout and the liner was dirty and the other diaper was in the wash. So I decided to mix and match the liners thinking it would be fine. I put Addi in a cute outfit and was getting myself ready. She peed through everything, the diaper, her cute outfit, the blanket I just washed. I got her cleaned up and was now running late.

I was meeting some friends for lunch at Cosi. They hadn't Met Addison yet. I hadn't realized I needed gas until it was almost too late. After putting gas in the tank I realized I forgot my wallet at home. Luckily I did have some money on me (I was 50 cents short). I totally had a "new mom what the heck am I doing" moment. When I was getting ready to go in and pay I realized I didn't know if I should run inside and pay quick or take her with me. I probably stood there for 5 minutes. I decided I couldn't leave her in the car. I felt so silly not knowing what to do. I decided I'd rather have her with me even if it's a lot more work. I then had to run home and get my wallet and then stop by Target to return some things. Thank goodness that went smoothly!

Lunch was great. I got a wonderful mango smoothy and a tuna melt. You have to love Yummy food and catching up with friends. We then went over to Marshalls to do some shopping. I fed Addi in the bathroom and had to stand the whole time. Plus I swear she ate for about 30 minutes. Then they didn't have a changing area. So I put her changing pad down in her car seat and changed her there. That was not easy.

We got some Cold Stone and then headed home. It was great to get out today but I was so happy to get home and relax with my baby girl. I cried a bit for feeling like a failure. I know I will get it eventually. I've only been a mom for 3 weeks. I just want to be the best I can be for her!

I love being a mother, even though I don't know what I'm doing yet. Hehe! :)

Tarjay!

I am going a little stir crazy! On Thursday my wonderful husband took care of Addison while I went to give my hair and eyebrowns a little TLC.

So today I decided to brave shopping with a 3 week old. It actually went fantastic. I got to get Starbucks, Addi was on her best behavior (sleeping most of the time), and I got everything on my list. I forgot how wonderful shopping can be. There is something theraputic about walking around, sipping coffee, and looking at baby clothes. It used to be shoes! Hmmm I still love a good pair of shoes but now I'm more worried about making Addi's shoe collection as big as mine. She was a big hit at Target! Everyone just adored her. It makes a mommy proud!

I just love being a mom and look forward to many more mommy and daughter outings!
